Description

Patrick Pageat est un des fondateurs de l’IRSEA. Né le 10 décembre 1960 à Villepinte (France), il a obtenu son diplôme de docteur vétérinaire à l’Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon en 1983, puis un master d’Entomologie et Physiologie de l’Insecte en 1985.

Docteur du Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle (Paris) avec une thèse sur le comportement prédateur de Philanthus triangulum (une guêpe qui paralyse des abeilles pour nourrir ses proies, il fonde la consultation de médecine comportementale de l’Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon en 1983 puis celle de Maisons Alfort en 1985 avec le soutien du Professeur Moraillon.

En 1995, il publie « Pathologie du Comportement du Chien », ouvrage de référence réédité en 1999 et traduit en trois langues. Dans le cadre de son activité d’enseignement il sera l’un des initiateurs du Diplôme Inter-Ecoles de Vétérinaire Comportementaliste.

En 1996 il est un des co-fondateurs de l’European Society of Veterinary Clinical Ethology puis en 1998 du Collège Européen de Médecine Comportementale des Animaux de Compagnie (ECVBM-CA) qui deviendra, sous sa présidence, Collège Européen de Bien-Etre Animal et Médecine Comportementale(ECAWBM).

Après 8 années d’une activité professionnelle associant activité clinique libérale, enseignement et recherche, il crée Phérosynthèse en 1995, avec Hugues Lucas de Leyssac. Au sein de cet institut de recherche, devenu depuis l’IRSEA, il a déposé plus de 200 brevets internationaux.

Outre ses fonctions à l’IRSEA, il est aussi Professeur Associé d’Ethologie Appliquée et Bien-Etre Animal à l’E.I. Purpan.
